The Collaborative Online Resource Environment for Women (CORE4WOMEN) was proposed by 30 women from various fields within distance education. The effort has been supported by the United States Distance Learning Association and has received publicity from GetEducated.com for efforts to support women who have faced significant barriers to attaining an education. These high-need areas include survivors of abuse and women who serve in the military or are military spouses.
