The Changing Makeup of Academic Library Collections: Is the Tipping Point of Electronic-Only Collections in Sight?

Thursday, February 18 | 10:30AM–11:15AM | Capitol Ballroom A-C
Session Type: Professional Development
Is the academic library going to become electronic only with its space dedicated to collaboration and study rather than collections? This session will discuss trends in academic library collecting, such as patron-driven acquisitions, print-on-demand books, and Google Books. Designed to keep up with our changing patron needs, these new services are also radically redefining the academic library. What impact will they have on the academic library, and how can libraries ensure that patrons can access the electronic library content?
