Get Creative! Enhance Your Campus Portal with Existing Collaborative IT Solutions

Monday, March 14, 2011 | 4:45PM–5:30PM | Seville West/First Floor
Session Type: Professional Development
Whether a campus is centralized or decentralized, delivering personalized information to users in a secure, cohesive location is not easy. Developers must thoroughly understand interfaces to existing systems as well as varied, competing user needs. Universities are expected to do more with fewer resources, and upgrading archaic systems is simply unrealistic. The team must balance technological constraints with user expectations, holding user experience tantamount. This presentation will chronicle business and development decisions Illinois State University's iCampus team made while upgrading the iCampus Portal from uPortal 2.1 to 3.1.1, beginning in March 2009 and successfully launching in May 2010.
