Lone Star College Nursing: Using Technology to Enhance Student Success

Wednesday, February 23, 2011 | 4:45PM–5:30PM | Governor's Ballroom Salon B
Session Type: Professional Development, WSWRC11
In collaboration and partnership with our faculty, Lone Star College System Office of Technology Services provides multiple avenues not only to enhance nursing students' learning but also to bolster their self-confidence in a high-stress environment. We will discuss the uses of technology in both simulated and clinical settings. Using the iPod touch, nursing students have access to resources including databases and videos of procedures. With High Fidelity Simulation, faculty re-create a host of clinical situations that students must react to in order to "save" the situation before doing so on the hospital floor. Learn how these technologies have been leveraged to enhance student success.
