Understanding Users and Transforming IT to Deliver
Thursday, February 24, 2011 | 10:30AM–11:15AM | Meeting Room 404
Session Type:
Professional Development, WSWRC11
One of the causes of silos within IT organizations is distance from the users. Distance can come from many factors such as the physical, philosophical, sociological, and the psychological. Excellent communications strategies from within the IT organization can bridge distance, develop commonalities of purpose, bring people out of silos into teams, employ best practices, and catalyze change in organization behavior and structure. This session will examine 10 communication strategies that Rice University has used to understand users and their needs and discuss the silo-destroying ramifications that have resulted.
