OIT's Special Identity Management System (SIMS) is designed to help automate the administration of non faculty, staff, and student accounts. Examples of the types of accounts that SIMS manages include system administrators, Oracle users, calendar resources, shared mailboxes, switch/router access, and guest accounts. The design choices and the rationale behind them will be presented, followed by a look at several specific examples of how the system is used at the University of Maryland.
