Greening the Classroom

Thursday, January 13, 2011 | 2:30PM–3:30PM | Harborside Ballroom Foyer
Session Type: Professional Development
University green initiatives can start at the grass-roots level of education, in the classroom. American University and Howard University both launched Green Teaching Certificate programs in the past two years, and representatives from both universities will share their experiences. We will discuss the value of a Green Teaching program both for campus sustainability and the promotion of online teaching tools, while describing in detail the process and potential challenges of starting a Green Teaching program. You will have a chance to discuss your own experiences with green teaching and become part of a growing network of universities promoting green teaching.
