MS SharePoint and the Datatel Portal

The Mercyhurst College web presence can best be described as brochure-ware sites. These sites are augmented by an increasing number of one-off applications developed to provide limited functionality. Additionally, e-mail communication has become overused. A small group of nontechnical administrators was formed to implement a technology platform capable of providing solutions to these issues. This group encountered a number of factors ranging from steep technology learning curves to gaining buy-in and financial support from upper level administration. This presentation provides a technical overview of our SharePoint infrastructure, project management strategies, and enhancements provided by Datatel.
