Technology Learning Assistants: Students Tutoring Faculty in Technology

Wednesday, January 12 | 4:45PM–5:30PM | Harborside Ballroom B
Session Type: Professional Development
Faculty are usually reticent or too busy to attend formal, scheduled training sessions on the use of technology. The Technology Learning Assistant (TLA) program provides requesting faculty members with one-to-one tutoring by a tech-savvy student. Faculty benefit by receiving personalized technology help, being able to use technology more efficiently, and receiving help matching the right technology to their specific goals. Gaining richer course resources, integrating interactive technologies, and expanding use of technology to support teaching are additional benefits. Students benefit from participation in the program by gaining real-life consulting experience, practicing communication skills, earning academic credit, and enhancing their resumes.
