When IT Governance Falls Off a Cliff

Thursday, January 13, 2011 | 3:30PM–4:15PM | Essex
Session Type: Professional Development
Does your IT governance process fall off a cliff when projects reach their end? Formal project closure is often the missing link in establishing strong IT governance. This forgotten component counters the tendency for projects to drift on, acknowledges the project team's work, and ensures that lessons learned from the project are investigated and recorded to improve future projects. Additionally, formal project closure demonstrates to stakeholders IT's commitment to meeting their needs. In this working session we'll discuss the strategic value realized by formally closing projects, share approaches to project closure, and discuss as a group the challenges, successes, and failures around project closure.
