Planning for Informal Learning Spaces

Learning spaces are undergoing transformations, not only from the physical to the virtual, but from the classroom to the hallways. The Learning Spaces Committee of William Paterson University switched its focus from formal to informal learning spaces, with an eye to improving existing areas on campus. Seeking student input to guide them, the committee developed and delivered a student survey that brought out interesting responses-some expected and others not as much. Engaging mobile technologies such as iPads and iPods were used to gather the data. Results from the survey and best practices will be shared with the session participants.
