Winning with the LOTTO: The Ticket to Success in Supporting Faculty Online Course Development

Friday, January 13 | 9:30AM–10:15AM | Harborside Ballroom D
Session Type: MARC12

As the oldest Historically Black College (HBC) in the state of Maryland, Bowie State University (BSU) found that nearly 90% of students were interested in taking an online or hybrid course. Although 74% of faculty expressed interest in teaching an online course, the overwhelming challenge was finding time to attend all-inclusive training and to develop comprehensive materials. In response to the urgent need, BSU began the Learning Online, Teaching with Technology Online (LOTTO) Institute, a week-long faculty development experience featuring a collegial environment for exploring hybrid and online teaching and learning, focusing on both technology and pedagogy.
