It Takes a Village: Creating a Culture of Mentoring/Coaching for Scholarly Engagement and Success

Wednesday, May 30, 2012 | 4:45PM–5:30PM | Grand Ballroom Salons A/B
Session Type: Professional Development
Retention is a critical issue on many campuses. Many students get lost in the overwhelming atmosphere of college life. Involving students in a collaborative coaching environment creates a culture for engagement and success. Incorporating peer-to-peer mentoring can help guide students in the day-to-day activities of college. Faculty coaching gives students a unique opportunity to witness faculty scholarly success while forging connections, networking, and receiving positive feedback and encouragement. This session will highlight successful mentoring relationships from the perspectives of faculty and students, both millennial and nontraditional.
