Session Type: Professional Development
The "Experience IT" format offers a hands-on, highly interactive introduction to newer tools and technologies so you can explore their potential impact in the workplace and classroom and on your professional development. Please bring your laptop or other session-specific technology (such as smartphone or tablet) to the session so you can engage with the presenter. Seating will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Want to quickly give a complex response to a student's e-mail question or, while correcting an assignment, provide more feedback than a quick note in the margin? Jing may be your solution. Learn how to do screen captures (websites, PowerPoint presentations, word-processing documents, etc.) and record your voice at the same time to give personalized instruction and feedback to students in a quick (5 minutes or less), simple, and easy-to-produce and share medium without any prior knowledge about video editing. We'll cover everything from downloading and installing it on your laptop to creating both static visuals and videos. We will look specifically at using Jing to explain how to do research and to provide feedback on written assignments. Jing is a laptop-based application; a microphone is recommended to get the most benefit from the program.
