There have never been more options for providing campus services than there are today. Cloud-based services, managed hosting, SaaS, on-premises virtual servers—each has a role to play. How should a campus choose the best services for its local needs? We will describe our journey in rethinking our most critical services and migrating (or developing) many of them off campus using several different hosting strategies. We have used our experience to create a framework for evaluating campus needs and services that will help your campus develop a coherent strategy for off-campus (and on) service provision.
