Course Activity and Digital Badge
Each registered participant will develop one activity that employs various concepts and strategies introduced in the course. Participants will be asked to complete assignments between the course segments that support the learning objectives and will receive feedback and constructive critique from the facilitators on how to improve and shape their work. Participants who successfully complete the entire activity will receive an EDUCAUSE digital badge recognizing their accomplishment.

Session 1: How Big Is Your Credential Universe?
April 1, 2019, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET
- What are digital credentials, and why are they gaining favor?
- Who should be involved?
- Why are you seeking to issue digital credentials?
- Who are your external stakeholders?
- How do you set up a governance policy?
- What are the phases of your project (beginning, middle, and full launch)?
- What does your credential hierarchy and constellation look like?
Session Activity
- You will begin the planning process through a meta-activity of identifying purpose, value, and stakeholders. Find more information in the Canvas course.
Session 2: Stakeholders, Meaning, and Rigor
April 10, 2019, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET
- What makes a credential valuable?
- How do you create robust metadata?
- What are the skills and abilities you expect to highlight with the badge?
- What should be considered as credential evidence?
- How will you get the credential to the earner?
Session Activity
- You'll identify stakeholders and develop competencies or standards to embed in credentials for an actual project at your institution and design one or more credentials. Find more information in the Canvas course.
Session 3: Final Lift
April 17, 2019, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET
- What about graphic design and branding?
- How do you prepare your earners to accept credentials?
- What follow-up should you plan to implement?
- What can you do to further drive credential value?
