Schedule and Activities

Session 1: Laying a Strong Foundation for Learning Analytics

Wednesday, September 25, 2019, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

This session will provide a high-level introduction to the organizational change model that will frame the remainder of the course. Additionally, the session will focus on the key ingredients for such change: LA strategy, leadership, and culture. Your local action planning will begin during session 1.

Session 2: Policy, Procedures, and Ethics for Learning Analytics

Wednesday, October 2, 2019, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

This session will highlight the importance of building policy and procedures specifically for learning analytics; this is especially critical when considering student privacy and the ethical applications of learning analytics. This session will share many resources related to LA policy and will also feature exemplars from across higher education. Your local action planning will continue during session 2.

Session 3: Infrastructure and Tools to Support Learning Analytics

Wednesday, October 9, 2019, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

Building on the firm foundation from sessions 1 and 2, this session will focus on what people generally think of with LA initiatives: technology. This session was intentionally saved for the end of the course because learning analytics is not merely a tool, but rather a complex change process. By focusing on strategy, leadership, culture, and policy first, you have already established a strong foundation for introducing and/or advancing learning analytics at your institution. This final session will help you round out your action planning.
