Learning Experience

The Learning Lab experience is supported by both asynchronous and synchronous components. Each of the two Learning Cycles includes a set of resources, an asynchronous discussion, and an interactive live session, all of which culminate in the development of a project or application to apply learning to local and specific contexts in support of the learning objectives.

Schedule

Welcome Session

March 2, 2023, 12:00–1:00 p.m. ET

This is a live session to learn the details of the Learning Lab, the Canvas site, and expectations for the microcredential. There will also be time to get to know your fellow Lab partners and facilitator.

Learning Cycle 1: Introversion and How It Impacts Your Approach to Leadership

March 7, 2023, 12:00–1:30 p.m. ET

We’ll start with a discussion of characteristics introverts posses and how those manifests themselves in the workplace. We'll also explore recent literature on introversion and leadership, including Susan Cain's book “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking.” We’ll identify various tools and inventories that help provide insight into our strengths that we can leverage as we explore and grow in leadership.

Learning Cycle 2: Improvisation, Communication Skills, and Introversion

March 14, 2023, 12:00–1:30 p.m. ET

In our second learning cycle we’ll work together on interactive exercises that are designed to build communication skills and strategies that leverage our ability to think deeply and thoughtfully in environments that require quick responses. This will be an engaging session where you’ll be able to participate in (or observe) various scenarios that mirror common situations we may face in the workplace.

Review and Reflect Session

March 21, 2023, 12:00–1:30 p.m. ET

The Learning Lab will conclude with an application or implementation project (described below) and a closing live session to review and process the learning from the lab.

Lab Implementation Project

How do we leverage what we’ve discovered about ourselves in this Learning Lab? For our application project, we’ll create individual action plans to help guide your growth as an introverted leader, and to identify our strengths, challenges, and opportunities. We’ll also provide an opportunity after the Learning Lab to schedule a complimentary one-on-one coaching/mentoring session with the facilitator.
