Intelligent Academics—Intelligence from Data

Tuesday, March 14, 2017 | 1:00PM–2:15PM | Oregon Ballroom AB, Ballroom Level
Session Type: Breakout Session
Three fundamental forces have been increasingly driving higher education institutions’ IT scenarios: the explosion of data and content, an exponential increase in computing power, and the use of analytics. The emphasis has now shifted from storing increasing volumes of data toward analysis and interpretation of data into actionable information. The data collected together with legacy data must, in a way, tell a story that links past trends with current data and then goes on to predict the future, thus incorporating exploratory, descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics. This will be the presenter’s focus.

OUTCOMES: Describe utility of business intelligence in higher education institutions * Expound roadblocks and challenges anticipated * Be able to suggest a mix of business intelligence tools needed to cater to the analytics gap
