Leveraging Student Data to Address Institutional Needs

Tuesday, March 14 | 8:45AM–10:00AM | Oregon Ballroom AB, Ballroom Level
Session Type: Breakout Session
We will present three ongoing projects at the University of Washington that leverage data generated by student activity in our online systems to help students, faculty, and staff address common problems on our campus. The projects are (1) an interactive dashboard to help students identify and prepare to apply for majors; (2) an LMS integration that helps faculty design course websites that are easy for students to navigate; and (3) visualizations that help administrators to identify courses where student demand far outstrips capacity. We will end with a discussion of future directions in this space.

OUTCOMES: Identify problems at your institution that could be addressed by leveraging data * Learn strategies for addressing these problems * Understand the practical skills needed to address these problems with data
