Emotional intelligence is a characteristic of successful managers and is key to both professional and personal accomplishment. Researchers have recognized that while IQ has been a good predictor of academic achievement, many exceptionally bright people remain remarkably ineffective and unproductive in their professional lives because they lack emotional intelligence.
