Digital Rights Management: More than Meets the Eye

"Digital Rights Management" refers to systems that control the distribution and use of electronic content. Who can download what? How long can they keep it? What can they do with it while they have it? DRM systems—if and when implemented—will have tremendous impact on publishers, librarians, computer manufacturers, internet service providers, and the general public...and, of course, on the higher education community. To discuss the background and implications of Digital Rights Management, this edition of EDUCAUSE Live! features Clifford Lynch, Executive Director of the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI).
