Dutch Not Going Dutch: An Open Roadmap for OER Workshops

Tuesday, May 18 | 8:00AM–5:00PM ET
Session Type: On-Demand Session
Delivery Format: Industry and Campus-Led Session

In the Netherlands we have been working on the adoption of open educational resources (OER) for many years. We guide professional communities in their mission to build collections of OER and work together on better content. At SURF we develop supporting materials, in the form of roadmaps, together with teachers and supporting staff from educational institutions all over the Netherlands to make the process of embedding the use and reuse of OER easier. The roadmap workshop "Redesign your teaching with open educational resources" focuses on adoption of OER within the institution! It can be very useful to use other people's learning materials. It can save time, and it can improve the quality of education! But, where do you start? With the workshop you organize a workshop for teachers and support staff in your institution about OER, and together you can build on a strategy and put it into practice! In this presentation, Michel Jansen and Lieke Rensink will give an outline of the situation in the Netherlands and discuss challenges around adoption of OER and solutions in the form of the roadmap and train-the-trainer workshop. Via chat and after the session, we would like to engage with participants who are interested in the workshop and roadmap and who would like to use them in their own setting or who want to stimulate reuse in their own country. All materials are also available in English: https://www.surf.nl/en/open-educational-resources-roadmaps.
