Leveraging the Library: Supporting the Online Transition

On Demand
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: On-Demand

Responding to the pandemic-driven online pivot, we leveraged our combined skill sets in multimedia production and instructional design to create an interactive, online toolkit to support our fellow librarians. The result is an adaptable pedagogical and technological online instruction repository for librarians and faculty. Couched in our unique perspective as teaching and technology librarians, we challenge participants to embrace creativity and untapped resources. We will provide an overview of how the need emerged, our rationale for constructing such a toolkit, and the ways in which it has been adapted and used throughout the university. Moreover, we will discuss the ways in which providing a pedagogical support tool falls squarely within the purview of an academic library. Providing a thoughtful reflection on the project from inception through its current state, we will promote thoughtful discussion of how learning communities and communities of practice are formed in unconventional times.
