With few exceptions, the diverse open educational resource (OER) landscape has not been inclusive of extended reality (XR), which includes augmented, mixed, and virtual reality modalities. However, recent technological advances, coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic, have fast-tracked XR adoption. This session offers foundational recommendations for embracing OER and XR together within the higher education community in the spirit of democratizing the technology and ensuring equitable access.
