Course Activity and Digital Badge
Each registered participant will develop one activity that employs various concepts and strategies introduced in the course. Participants will be asked to complete assignments between the course segments that support the learning objectives and will receive feedback and constructive critique from the facilitators on how to improve and shape their work. Participants who successfully complete the entire activity will receive an EDUCAUSE digital badge recognizing their accomplishment.

Session 1: A Case for Blended Learning Design within an Active Learning Framework

This workshop will focus on defining the key principles of blended learning and active learning.
Objectives
- Articulate a position or philosophy of blended learning
- Utilize research when establishing the benefits of blended learning and the active learning framework
- Identify successful case studies on blended learning implementation within an active learning framework
Activities
- Individual: SWOT analysis on assessing your pathways for a blended learning initiative (e.g., a module)
- Group discussion: Discuss SWOT
- Individual: Create an action plan
Session 2: Seamlessness: Applying Active Learning Principles within a Blended Learning Course Design

This workshop will focus on strategies for creating seamlessness in transitioning in blended courses.
Objectives
- Articulate strategies for transitioning within the blended learning environment
- Discuss active learning strategies for blended learning
- Examine assessment strategies for blended learning
- Apply the principles of active learning within your course (or module)

Session 3: The Quality in the Blend: Applying Quality Indicators in Blended Courses

This workshop will focus on how participants can apply research strategies to enhance engagement in their blended course. The workshop will also cover key indicators for a quality blended course.

- Apply research strategies to enhance blended learning courses (e.g., student surveys)
