Beyond Emergency Notification

In the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy, most universities have acquired systems that use text messaging to notify students, faculty, and staff of emergency situations. Few have had the imagination to use text messaging in other ways. This session will explore the possibility of using text messaging in ways that enhance the friendliness, convenience, and effectiveness of a university's educational environment.
