Worldwide changes catalyzed by information technology are changing our traditional notions of what the future of higher education will be. The "digital age" offers new opportunities, such as online learning, as well as threats, such as competition from other institutions. Common themes are emerging worldwide, such as cloud computing, identity management, and open educational resources. The presentation will sketch the emerging landscape and explore the implications for higher education.
