Feedback Loops, Analytics, and Open Educational Resources: The Innovative Braid of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching

Carnegie is developing an innovative one-year Statistics Pathway (Statway) focused on statistics, data analysis, and quantitative reasoning for community college students. These mathematics skills—essential for a growing number of occupations and professions—are needed for making decisions under conditions of uncertainty. This math not only helps students understand the world around them but also can be used immediately. The yearlong experience will concentrate on statistical content with requisite arithmetic and algebraic concepts taught and applied in the context of statistics. The materials will be made available as an open educational resource. Participants in the Statway Networked Improvement Community will share data and analytics on what works—for what students, under what conditions—to continue to improve student learning. This ELI webinar will discuss this just-launched initiative and what the field can expect to learn.
