Learning Experience
The Learning Lab experience is supported by both asynchronous and synchronous components. Each part includes a set of resources, an asynchronous discussion, and an interactive live session, all of which culminate in the development of a project to apply learning to local and specific contexts in support of the learning objectives.

Part 1: Introduction to Dx

As higher education leaders, we are responsible for navigating our institutions through the ever-changing landscape of education. Developing a digital transformation (Dx) strategy is a crucial step in this journey and a priority for all of us. In this live session, we will delve into the meaning of digital transformation for higher education and how it can benefit your institution. We will provide precise definitions and identify signs that Dx may already be occurring at your institution.

Part 2: Principles of Dx
May 8, 2024, 3:00–4:30 p.m. ET
Digital transformation is the future of higher education. To succeed, it takes strong leadership and a commitment to change. In this session, we'll explore how you evaluate your institution's readiness for digital transformation, considering factors like culture, workforce competency, and technological infrastructure. We'll also delve into effective leadership in the context of Dx, building comprehensive strategies to communicate and collaborate on projects.

- Deepen your understanding of the elements of effective leadership in steering Dx initiatives.
- Craft a strategy to effectively communicate the Dx vision and goals to other campus leaders.
- Develop actionable methods for engaging and collaborating with fellow campus leaders, facilitating a unified approach to Dx.
Part 3: Designing a Dx Strategy
May 13, 2024, 3:00–4:30 p.m. ET
A framework for developing a Dx strategy provides the pathway for you to address key elements, such as the Dx initiative's purpose; the changes required in workforce, culture, and technology; and the value the initiative will add to the institution. In this live session, you’ll be introduced to a framework that will guide you through the process for developing a Dx strategy and plan specific to your context.

- Identify key decision makers and campus leaders to support institutional Dx
Part 4: Applying a Dx Strategy to Your Work
May 20, 2024, 3:00–4:30 p.m. ET
Assessment and analysis help us determine what needs to be done. Strategy development is how we make sure it’s actually getting done. Setting goals and developing a strategy for your institution as early as possible gives you and everyone on your team something to work toward. Goals are also critical to getting leadership buy-in. In this session, we’ll wrap up the learning experience by looking forward; we’ll talk about how to set goals and develop a strategy for Dx.
Learning Objectives:
- Develop an action plan to identify where you can make an impact at your institution
- Design a written Dx strategy to be applied at your institution.
- Create strategies for engaging and securing buy-in from institutional leadership and key stakeholders, ensuring sustained support for Dx Initiatives
Lab Project/Assignments
Participants will draft an initial, high-level plan for developing a Dx strategy at their institution. Based on a templated framework, each plan will include strategies for including appropriate stakeholders and communicating with campus leaders.
