Overview
Learn ways to build a digital accessibility framework, plan, and program toolkit, and explore how to apply Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) campus-wide. Topics will include building a culture of accessibility, professional development, and online course accessibility; guiding a campus-wide committee; recruiting qualified staff; tapping into existing communities of practice; developing a plan; and designing a policy or initiative. You'll also discover a staged approach for adopting digital accessibility and UDL.
Learning Outcomes:
NOTE: You will be asked to complete assignments in between the Learning Lab live sessions that support the learning outcomes stated below. You will receive feedback and constructive critique from facilitators.
- Compare and contrast resources that make for a successful institution-wide digital accessibility initiative
- Discuss key criteria for an effective digital accessibility program, policy, and plan relative to applicable institutional goals
- Identify the necessary components for making any online digital content accessible
- Create the framework for a digital accessibility toolkit that can be applied to a course, program, or plan
- Develop a program plan outline using the J4P Framework a guide
