Overview

Building on foundational knowledge of digital microcredentials, this lab takes participants through the process of developing, growing, and refining a microcredential system that is aligned to industry and employer needs and contributes to a larger credential ecosystem. Institutional leaders will share their approaches to how they developed microcredential strategies, established policy (e.g., governance), communicated value to academic leaders and learners, connected with employers, and sustained a dynamic and adaptable microcredential ecosystem.

Learning Outcomes:

NOTE: You will be asked to complete assignments in between the Learning Lab live sessions that support the learning outcomes stated below. You will receive feedback and constructive critique from facilitators.

  • Assess a microcredential program’s readiness for growth and identify how microcredential ecosystem-building can promote digital and institutional transformation.
  • Identify and work with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., employers, faculty, governing bodies, external credentialing entities, credentialing partners) to develop, grow, and refine your microcredential programs.
  • Identify methods to collect and analyze data on microcredentials to better communicate their value to learners and employers.
  • Develop strategies to sustain an effective institutional or system-wide microcredential program that aligns to your learner and employer needs.
