Overview

This 4-part learning lab explores the evolving intersection of generative AI and Open Educational Resources (OER). Participants will evaluate the transformative potential of AI in enhancing OER creation, curation, and adaptive learning, while also addressing the ethical, legal, and pedagogical challenges that accompany its use. Through a balance of theory, practical application, and collaborative discussion, attendees will develop strategies for integrating AI into their OER initiatives. Key focus areas include addressing bias and transparency, ensuring quality and equity, and navigating intellectual property concerns. By the end of the workshop, participants will have designed actionable, context-specific plans for AI-OER integration.

Learning Outcomes:

NOTE: You will be asked to complete assignments in between the Learning Lab segments that support the learning outcomes stated below. You will receive feedback and constructive critique from course facilitators.

  • Evaluate the transformative potential of AI in the creation, curation, and enhancement of Open Educational Resources (OER).
  • Analyze and address the ethical, legal, and pedagogical challenges posed by AI integration in OER.
  • Develop responsible strategies for integrating AI into OER that balance innovation with caution.
  • Cultivate collaborative approaches to AI-OER development.
