In today's rapidly evolving landscape—especially in the fast-moving world of AI—success depends on your ability to navigate the future with confidence and clarity. This Learning Lab equips you with essential knowledge and practical skills in strategic foresight—the practice of anticipating and preparing for multiple possible futures to guide better long-term decisions—to transform current insights into strategic, data-informed plans that prepare you for what's ahead.

Now more than ever, the ability to not just react to rapidly changing conditions but to anticipate and plan for change is vital. Through engaging, hands-on activities, you'll develop or enhance your institution's AI strategy using strategic foresight capabilities that can also extend far beyond any single initiative.

By the end of this lab, you'll possess both the strategic mindset and practical tools necessary to tackle planning challenges across any domain with confidence and expertise.

Learning Outcomes:

NOTE: You will be asked to complete assignments in between the Learning Lab segments that support the learning outcomes stated below. You will receive feedback and constructive critique from course facilitators.

  • Become familiar with the full cycle of strategic foresight and related tools.
  • Find and use strategic foresight research reports and other resources that include current trends and signals, future scenarios, and similar data.
  • Identify specific use cases for applying strategic foresight research and tools.
  • Develop plans to engage colleagues in future-focused planning utilizing foresight tools.
