Overview

Digital accessibility is no longer optional―it is essential for supporting student success, meeting legal requirements, and advancing equity. This Learning Lab provides leaders and practitioners with the knowledge and strategies to build or strengthen institution-wide accessibility programs. Through focused modules, participants will explore the practical, policy, and cultural dimensions of digital accessibility. The course emphasizes both leadership and implementation, drawing on lessons from experienced leaders. Participants will take away actionable strategies, frameworks, and tools for leading accessibility efforts that align with institutional mission and compliance obligations.

Learning Outcomes:

NOTE: You will be asked to complete assignments in between the live sessions that support the learning outcomes stated below. You will receive feedback and constructive critique from facilitators.

  • Identify key components of a higher education digital accessibility program strategy.
  • Understand internal and external influences that affect accessibility prioritization, risk reduction, and program maturity.
  • Articulate different rationales for growing and maturing accessibility programs.
  • Leverage existing campus IT frameworks, governance structures, and tools toward digital accessibility.
  • Develop a roadmap to follow digital accessibility programs across IT domains.
