The Learning Lab experience is supported by both asynchronous and synchronous components. Each part includes a set of resources, an asynchronous discussion, and an interactive live session, all of which culminate in the development of a project to apply learning to local and specific contexts in support of the learning objectives.

Part 1: Introduction to Introverted Leadership

This session provides an introduction to the concept of introverted leadership, focusing on its significance in higher education. Participants will engage in various activities designed to foster understanding and self-awareness, including a presentation on key literature, temperament inventories, and group discussions. By the end of the session, participants will have a clearer understanding of their own leadership style and how to leverage their introverted strengths in the workplace.

Part 2: Challenges and Strategies for Introverts in Higher Education

This session focuses on the unique challenges faced by introverted leaders in higher education and explores effective strategies to overcome these obstacles. Participants will engage in discussions, learn practical tools, and share personal experiences to develop a comprehensive understanding of how to thrive as an introverted leader. The session aims to empower participants with actionable strategies and foster a supportive community through interactive exercises.

Part 3: Communication Workshop

Participants will explore improvisation techniques to boost their confidence and spontaneity in various communication scenarios. The session includes practical activities, group debriefing, and discussions to ensure a thorough understanding of the techniques and their applications. The goal is to empower introverted leaders to communicate more effectively and confidently in their professional environments.

Part 4: Leveraging Insights and Action Planning

In the final session of the lab, participants will focus on consolidating their learnings and creating personalized action plans to apply their insights in their professional lives. This session emphasizes the practical application of skills and knowledge gained throughout the course, aiming to foster continuous self-improvement and leadership development. Participants will engage in discussions, a guided exercise to develop individual action plans, and a feedback session to refine their strategies.

Lab Project/Assignments
How do we leverage what we’ve discovered about ourselves in this Learning Lab? For our application project, we’ll create individual action plans to help guide your growth as an introverted leader and to identify your strengths, challenges, and opportunities. After the Learning Lab, we’ll also provide an opportunity to schedule a complimentary one-on-one coaching/mentoring session with the facilitator.
