Overview
You already know about the basics of Universal Design for Learning (UDL): how to provide learners with multiple means of engagement, multiple representations of information, and multiple ways to take action and express themselves. In our Learning Lab, we’ll examine real-world examples of IT professionals in colleges and universities who are using UDL’s nine guidelines and 36 considerations to reduce barriers and streamline processes, from training to web design to the help desk, and more.
Your lab microproject will analyze, plan, implement, and assess an implementation of UDL at your institution.
Learning Outcomes:
NOTE: You will be asked to complete assignments in between the live sessions that support the learning outcomes stated below. You will receive feedback and constructive critique from facilitators.
On completion of this learning lab, you will be able to:
- Define the three principles, nine guidelines, and 36 considerations of the UDL framework- and apply them to IT-specific contexts.
- Align selected UDL considerations to guide the evolution of existing IT processes (e.g., training, web design, help desk engagements).
- Analyze a UDL opportunity in your institution’s current IT practices or offerings.
- Plan, implement, and assess a UDL-informed design or redesign of an ITearning engagement at your institution.
