Member QuickTalk | Drafting an Institutional AI Policy

Swiftly following the exhilaration of the new AI Revolution, educational institutions scrambled to initiate discussions revolving around the development of institutional AI policies. A few institutions led the charge, defining the do’s and don'ts of AI use, while many are stuck somewhere between approval, development, and conception.

This QuickTalk will share unique origin stories of AI policy development and evolution. We will share in this journey together, discussing everything from high-level institutional policies to individual course syllabi policies. During this collaborative session, we will also discuss a potential policy design framework that includes: the types of questions helpful to driving the right conversations, finding an appropriate balance of voices within an institution, crafting strategies to support stakeholders in adopting these policies, and the flexibility and adaptation needed to keep up with the rapid changes surrounding AI tools.

Participants are invited to bring an institutional policy, whether in progress or published publicly, as well as reflections on their own policy journeys, and we will collectively add to this framework. Even if you are not directly involved in policy development, your participation will add value to this nascent effort.
