Apple TV in the Classroom: From Pilot to Institution-Wide Installation
An instructor walks into a classroom and wonders, "Why can't I use my Apple TV to connect my iPad to the projector? It's just like my TV at home." And thus begins Providence College's journey to bring a consumer device onto the campus network. This presentation will detail how PC moved from an unsustainable "just make it work" solution to outfitting 19 classrooms where Apple TVs use the campus wireless to connect both iOS and Windows devices. We will highlight collaboration among departments, including Enrollment Services, IT, Academic Media Services, Instructional Technology, and the Center for Teaching Excellence.
OBJECTIVES: Compare two ways to install Apple TV devices into a secure network to allow end users to connect with multiplatform devices * Be able to list Apple TV device settings to allow a consumer device to function in a secure, networked environment without interrupting classroom teaching * Be able to justify the installation of Apple TV devices in classrooms that support Apple and Windows devices
