From the Basement to the Cloud

Wednesday, March 23, 2016 | 9:00AM–9:50AM | Room 554
Session Type: Professional Development
Drawing from examples of Weinberg College's collaborative and independent efforts, we will discuss the process of getting to the cloud, including planning, communication, implementation, and lessons learned. We will outline the move of college file services to Box, as well as the migration of our on-site virtual desktop service to a hosted solution. All of the factors involved in going to the cloud will be assembled into a picture centered on service adoption. We know the why arguments for the cloud. Focusing on faculty, staff, and student needs, we will show IT professionals how to get there.

Outcome: Gain the tools to communicate to senior leadership about presenting/supporting a new service broadly to a university community and working with vendors and others to get a new service off the ground
