Your Guide to Leveraging Your Work
1. Promote Your Session
Use social media and professional networks to promote your upcoming presentation or events in which you are playing a public role. Personally invite colleagues to take part. If you are speaking, provide your session title, time, and location to make it easy to find your session midst competing events in a busy program.
2. Extend Your Effort
Upload presentation slides and handouts to your session page prior to the event. Soon after the event, attendees are reminded to download and review resources as part of the EDUCAUSE event proceedings. Long after the event, your resources will serve as a testimony to your good work. Cite the presentation on your resume and link to it wherever possible.
3. Display Your Badge
EDUCAUSE has developed an association-wide badge portfolio. You will increasingly find opportunities to earn badges associated with professional development and deep learning experiences. Be sure to use them to your advantage! Explore our badging program for more information.
4. Reuse Your Content
Use excerpts from your presentation to launch articles or blog posts. Adapt it for other conferences. If your presentation was recorded, share the link across institutional or social networks.
5. Self Reflection and Evaluations
Participant comments provide important insight. However, attendees who take the time to evaluate are often either highly enthused or greatly dissatisfied. If the latter, try to remain objective. You will likely find value in criticism, whether or not it is constructively framed. Review the feedback with this in mind. Consider also tips the concierge recommends, at right.
No matter what, at the end of the day, be proud that you showed up. You added value to the event. You contributed to the community. Kudos! And thank you.
