What's Your HTTPS Grade? Improve Your Campus Web Security with Open-Source HAProxy Load Balancers

Thursday, April 12, 2018 | 2:20PM–3:20PM ET | Maryland Ballroom D, Fifth Floor
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Interactive Presentation
Come learn how Mid Michigan Community College protects the usernames, passwords, and web traffic of 4,500 students and staff using open-source HAProxy load balancers. This presentation will include sample configuration for several self-hosted web applications including Ellucian Colleague, Moodle, WordPress, GitLab, SSO solutions, and the JAMF Pro MDM solution. If your teams want to be better positioned to respond to new SSL and TLS vulnerabilities, streamline the complexity of reissuing certificates, and more quickly deploy new web applications, this is the session for you.

Outcomes: Evaluate your web applications and systems for known SSL/TLS vulnerabilities, identifying any weak links * Compare and contrast enterprise and open-source options for deploying load balancers in front of self-hosted web applications * Share and contribute sample HAProxy configuration for popular SIS and LMS campus solutions in a public GitHub repository
