The IMS Way: Leveraging Student Labor Effectively

Tuesday, March 29, 2011 | 12:30PM–1:20PM | Room 554
Session Type: Professional Development
Wesleyan's Instructional Media Services has evolved into an organization primarily managed by students without diminishing the level of professional services. Students supply high-quality services while gaining unparalleled levels of real-world experience. Our students design, build, and maintain equipment, classrooms, policies/procedures, schedules, budgets, and more with professional staff guidance. Students leave our organization with high levels of technical knowledge and years of management and leadership experience. This setup benefits both IMS and the student employees, allowing us to support over 100 classrooms, 7 labs, and 1,500 events a year with only three professional staff members.
