Tuesday, March 28 | 8:30AM–9:20AM | Room 550
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Standard Presentation
Online learning platforms provide an unprecedented opportunity to study teaching and learning through data collection, modeling, and analytics. At HBX, we are creating an active, social, and case-based learning platform to innovate and extend the reach of HBS. We have built our learning platform and our business systems in the cloud, along with a cloud-based data warehouse, tying together data from a student's application and enrollment, through course engagement and learning assessment. We will present a case study of our data warehouse implementation and discuss how it has helped create a data-driven culture to improve our platform and increase learner success.

Outcomes: Understand the key principles that allow an online learning data warehouse project to tie together data from business systems and learning platforms * Explore several important learning analytics questions that can be answered using a learning analytics data warehouse * Explore several approaches to dealing with unstructured and semistructured data during data warehouse creation
