The Value of IT: Creating, Communicating, and Increasing Value within Your Organization (separate registration is required) - Sponsored by The Walker Group

Monday, March 27 | 1:00PM–5:00PM | Room 551
Session Type: Additional Fee Program
Delivery Format: Preconference Seminar
According to Warren Buffet, "Price is what you pay. Value is what you get." CIOs and senior leaders are invited to spend an afternoon focusing on how to maximize the value of IT to their organizations. We will start with a discussion of "the real business of IT," based on Richard Hunter and George Westerman's book of the same name (Harvard Business Press 2009), updated with recent research from Gartner. This discussion will focus on the value propositions for IT's two distinct missions: the ways in which value is effectively communicated for each mission, and the path leading CIOs follow in order to maximize yields and increase strategic coherence in their IT investments. Joanna Young at jcycio.com will add her perspective on how to leverage digital innovation to increase the value of IT. Attendees will have opportunities to discuss and work together to develop plans for increasing the value of IT at their respective institutions.
