Mentoring First-Generation Students: The Prior Learning Connection

On Demand
Session Type: Virtual
Delivery Format: On Demand
For first-generation students, college success has been improved by prior learning assessments (PLAs). However, after admission, many from this cohort continue to struggle to fit in and can benefit from mentoring. UT Dallas has combined these two concepts via a digital platform to produce a continual chain of first-generation scholars.

Outcomes: Learn how to build effective relationships that emphasize academic and career growth * Teach how to navigate the college environment with the goals of graduation and career placement as priorities * Replicate the process by becoming mentors to others who have the same need
