The University of Miami is located in Coral Gables, Florida, where hurricanes and tropical storms are prevalent. The most recent, Hurricane Irma, was historic in its size and strength. Our disaster recovery and business continuity plan evolved and has become fine-tuned after weathering several hurricanes that "shivered the timbers" of the institution. This interactive presentation will focus on the policy, procedures, and partnerships implemented by many departments and divisions within the University of Miami that are designed to protect and mitigate against destruction and damage from a powerful weather force.
