Small Resources, Small Colleges: Addressing Faculty Development and Privacy

Monday, January 01 | 12:00AM–12:00AM CT
Session Type: Breakout Session
Exploratory research was conducted to find out what faculty know about privacy and what they do to ensure privacy as both instructors and researchers. Are faculty better or worse than the general populace? The concept of "FERPA compliant" is so engrained, but how can faculty development go beyond FERPA and instead address best practices? How can a small college aid faculty in developing their own practices for themselves and encourage it of their students? The proposed study will attempt to address these questions by determining the strengths and needs of how college faculty ensure privacy in their everyday research and teaching practices.

Outcomes: Understand the privacy knowledge of faculty * Understand the privacy practices of faculty * Develop ideas to address faculty development related to privacy best practices
