Learn and Design 3 | Educational Development in the Era of Cooperative Machine Learning: Outcomes, Algorithms, and Students as Partners

This session will invite participants to ideate on the role of educational development in the age of AI. The presenter will summarize the work at his institution, the four-step plan that he and his colleagues have taken to prepare faculty to develop an informed, critical eye toward artificial intelligence and its disruptive effects on teaching and learning. He will also outline how you can leverage existing programs for learning outcomes development, information and algorithmic literacy, and students as partners in the learning process to support the instructors at your institution. You will be invited to respond to and envision how the suggested approach may or may not work for your specific context. The presentation will include specific examples and citations from research literature. All attendees will have full access to the presentation and notes.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Develop awareness that AI and faculty development intersect. 

2. Create at least one question to further guide your exploration of the intersection of AI and faculty development.

NOTE: Learn and Design sessions include a 15 minute presentation followed by a 45 minute collaboratiave design experience in virtual session breakout rooms.
