Webinar | Classroom Fleet Dashboards: Integrated Data Visualization to Improve Learning Spaces
This session will discuss a project to integrate and visualize many types of learning space datasets on campus, including room information, utilization, course schedules, audiovisual equipment, Learning Space Rating System scores, and IT tickets. These data sources are typically siloed, making it difficult to accurately assess broad questions on teaching and learning spaces. We analyzed the data and created digestible reports and dashboards that promoted data democratization and integration, allowing for data-informed decisions on teaching and learning spaces. These dashboards assist in proactive, informed decisions about upgrades to the university’s teaching spaces, and they guide master planning by using actionable data (e.g., LSRS scores). This session will enable participants to begin planning visualizations of learning space data to support their own campus contexts.
Outcomes
- Demonstrate the importance of gathering integrated and accessible data between units to address questions about learning spaces
- Describe how data visualization can provide an improved view of learning spaces at both the micro (building) and macro (campus) scale
- Describe how to use data visualization to inform decisions on a campus classroom fleet to make further strategic and operational decisions
